Challenge

The challenge was to create a personal, recognizable and striking identity for the Invesdor web service and marketing purposes. Web service needed to be professional looking and usable. Service and company brand had to reflect innovative, forward looking and strong company that offers new kinds of next generation financial services. The target was to enable becoming the number one crowdfunding service in the Nordic region. The company and the design project were started from the scratch in year 2012.

Solution

The project was executed in a lean and agile way. Together with Invesdor we designed a working minimum viable product that included only the most necessary visuals and functionalities. The service has been designed with testing group, and will be upgraded on a regular basis based on feedback from the users and the crowd. Brand and visual identity has been expanded and refined as an ongoing process following the company growth.

We were part of the Invesdor team from the moment the company was established. We have been consulting Invesdor about its brand, service design and marketing strategy issues in every step on the way. Together with Invesdor we created the web service that is easy to use, airy and clean looking. Bold and strong brand imagery and colors were created to reflect totally new kind of active player in the industry revolutionizing the old fashioned financing world.

PinkAgency and Invesdor have been designing and delivering in close co-operation solutions , which include so far logo design, web service design, usability design, exhibition stand, and marketing and crowdfunding videos. Also several other kinds of marketing materials have been delivered.

Only in about two years Invesdor has become one of the leading equity crowdfunding players in the Nordic area and has 60% of market share in Finland. It has also been ranked as one of the top crowdfunding platforms in the Europe. Currently Invesdor is further expanding its presence and activities in the Nordic area in collaboration with the PinkAgency.

Challenge

The challenge was to create usable, crisp looking and modern web service that reflects the Avarea values. The service needed to tell a story about company full of seasoned professionals. The company wanted to give impression it knows everything about information management and information analytics. The service should also create a feeling of an interesting work place for new professionals.

Solution

PinkAgency designed overall look and feel for the web service following the existing brand guidelines. The site was designed to be crisp and airy with lots of light shades. Carefully selected Avarea purple was used for visual impact and brand identification. Also new effect color orange was introduced for making the look more warm and lively.

New illustrations were designed together with the client. They had been inspired by data that is the basic ingredient of the information management. PinkAgency also created and designed the original digital art works for an exhibition that was part of the Avarea BI-Bootcamp seminar and 5-year birthday party.

Web service was made responsive so that it adapts fluently to different screen sizes. It is easily usable in normal desktop computers, laptops, pads (iPad, Android etc.) and mobile phones.

Challenge

The challenge was to create better user experience and to make visual uplift for an outdated iPhone application. Simple but clever idea of the application is to instruct and motivate users to eat the right way without difficult calorie calculations. The application needed to work and be usable with all iPhone models with different screen sizes and resolutions. Also iPads had to be supported.

Solution

PinkAgency designed current fresh and minimalistic look and feel for the application. Application concept got new visual glues, helping icons, motivational graphics and some layout arrangements. These will help users to use the application in more fluent manner and to follow their eating habits. The application relates to the interaction models familiar from iPhone 5. The design follows flat design trend that helps the application to be more usable and made implementation work easy.

Client: Health Revolution Ltd.

Challenge

The challenge was to create logo and identity for an artisan brewery. The brand and visual appearance was expected to be something special combining the concepts of universe and brewing. The indication of the industry and the meaning of the brand needed to be creatively implemented on the mark section of the logo. Brewniverse is ?seriously fun? brand for educating beers, teaching high quality home brewing, and artisan beer making.

Solution

PinkAgency designed a playful mark that combines different elements from the brewing tradition and from the space travel iconography. While the design is clear it encapsulates many appealing details and hidden meanings at the same time. The mark was designed to indicate how the Brewniverse spreads the universal and tasty message of artisan beer making to surroundings. Also different logo solutions were designed to be use as coasters, crown caps patches, beer labels, teaching and presentation materials, business cards etc. In addition we also created the illustrated and detailed infographics of the beer making process for education purposes.

Challenge

The challenge was to create general new user interface with look and feel for the existing web service and ?tool?. The web service was meant to enhance communication between tenants, property management companies and landlords. There were two different focus groups and several unstructured services and functionalities for them. Service was used by more than 100 property management companies and more than 200 000 end-users.

Solution

PinkAgency designed structured, visually appealing and easy to use general look and feel template for the Taloyhtio.info. The template was made possible to modify for numerous needs of the Taloyhti?.info services and property management companies. We also made some additional user experience consultancy during the project.

Challenge

The challenge was to create basic identity for a small software technology company. The company had it?s own main product that was a location-based service.

Solution

PinkAgency designed and created the fresh looking company logo that emphasized location-based service offerings. We also designed the product logo and guidelines for new product series. Printed product brochure was designed for the marketing and sales purposes.

Challenge

The challenge was to design an exhibition stand graphics. The same stands were expected to be used with different messages. Identity was required to have the Insin??riliitto touch but it still needed to reflect the own ?identity? of Helsingin Insin??rit / Tietoala.

Solution

PinkAgency designed the exhibition stands according to existing colors, guidelines and elements, but created the original illustrations and typography for the spaces. The wall was also designed such way that by replacing one skin it was able to deliver different messages.

Challenge

The challenge was to design basic elements for sales material of a new type of housing concept.

Solution

PinkAgency and the partner designed together the mark, icons, color scheme and image guidelines. Designs can be further used in the materials everywhere needed. The mark was designed to represent the craftsmanship spirit of the new kind of housing concept.

Challenge

The challenge was to design a prototype for information visualisation and presentation for Microsoft. Real time information had to be presented in a visually appealing way inside Microsoft Visio application.

Solution

PinkAgency designed visually rich layouts and user interface together with the Solu Digital. The prototype was used for the development of Visio product and its uses.

Challenge

The challenge was to redesign and create whole new Ahlstrom web service and web presence. The target of the redesign was to support Ahlstrom vision: ?To be the first choice of fiber supply globally.?

Solution

In the design the attention was paid for usability and visual look and feel. Special attention was also paid for product search and for products presentation. The company has many products and those are difficult to perceive. Separate rich media section was created to tell about the history of one of the most traditional Finnish companies. Comprehensive digital brand guidelines were created which covered all the communication guidelines, UI guidelines, visual and illustrative style and tone of voice. In the project Miikka worked as an Art Director and was responsible of the visual and user interface design and part of the concept design.

Challenge

The challenge was to redesign and create first annual web report for one of the biggest companies in Finland. The company had little experience in digital communication and web design.

Solution

Design process was realized in very interactive and consultative way. Annual report was designed to be very easy to comprehend and hierarchical structure was made simple. Lots of attention was paid to visual appearance of the report and usage of the company?s own photographs. Annual report site was designed so that it is easy to update with the new yearly reports and some custom visuals.

The project started with one annual report, but continued several years. Because of the success of the new style in annual report, the new identity was later introduced to the corporate web site and other applications. The corporate web site was designed to represent big organizational changes and new type of public relationships of the company. There has been lot of changes in the energy sector. Visual style was influenced by the Nordic purity and power of the nature. Photo shoots were also arranged and directed during the projects.

Comprehensive digital brand guidelines were created which covered all the incommunication guidelines, UI guidelines, visual and illustrative style and tone of voice. In the projects Miikka worked as the Senior Art Director and was responsible of the UX design including visual, user interface design and part of the concept design.

Pohjolanvoima.fi

Client: Pohjolan Voima Ltd.

Challenge

The challenge was to redesign and to create visually less heavy and more modern looks for Pohjois-Karjan S?hk? web service and web presence. Also web tools for electricity consumers were requested to be introduced.

Solution

The new look and feel was designed and an old PKS dominating red was used in more sophisticated way. The new lighter look was introduced. Also the company got new more ?fun? and more characteristic marketing style that represented the Pohjois-Karjala people and their way of living. Company offerings were productized and presented in a new better way while the old content was structured in more logical way. Because of successful cooperation numerous consecutive projects followed with the company. For example, there has been several different Green energy campaigns that have included digital campaign design, illustrations and video ads.

In the projects Miikka worked as the Senior Art Director and was responsible of the UX design including visual, user interface design and part of the concept design.

Pink process

Our design process starts with client briefing. We discuss about the business and communication needs and find out what kind of design challenges we are going to solve.

After understanding the business goals we pursue to understand the end users state of mind, their needs, motivation, capabilities and operation conditions. We also analyze existing services and/or marketing material status and possible identity guidelines, as well as make competitor and trend analysis about what is happening in the world at the moment.

After the initial research, together with the client we adjust the objectives, choose proper medium to be used and create design solutions according to notions. We can involve real end users in the process if needed.

Design process does not need to be heavy at the start. Depending on the project scope the design can be done lean way. This means fast start aiming at minimum viable product that can be further developed based on user feedback.

Deliverables may be e.g. something between concept, identity, advertisement, campaign, video, communicative, mobile or functional web service, or combination of several of those.

Nowadays communication is not just about pushing the message from a company to the public. Most of the time creating a service or a brand is about serving the needs of the consumers and users so that the both parties can benefit and/or be entertained.

Pink entrepreneur

PinkAgency founder Miikka Poutiainen has been working more than 18 years as a creative and visual storyteller. He has contributed in large number of digital, visual and audiovisual media related projects.

Miikka has been working in established digital agencies and creative industry companies in Helsinki, Finland. During the office years many of the clients have been big well-known brands in Finland. He has also collected a lot of experience about small and medium sized businesses. At the moment he is producing and directing artistic films when not working with commercial projects.

While working full-time he has also been freelancing and involved in founding several digital media related companies. He is e.g. co-founder of Invesdor.com, which is the first and leading open equity-based crowdfunding platform in the Northern Europe. Miikka holds the Master of Arts degree in New Media from the University of Art and Design Helsinki (currently Aalto University).

Documentary films, short films, media art, photography and contemporary arts are his passion and always close to his heart. Aesthetics, beauty, functional design, meaningful disharmony and breaking old patterns and barriers are his inspirations and keep him going and satisfied.

He also enjoys traveling and cottage improvement. Working as a creative and visual storyteller is more than just plain work for him, it is more like breathing, the way of living.
